Theory of Acoustics
All sound sources may be classified into
    three categories:
    1. Fluctuating volume sources
    2. Fluctuating force sources
    3. Fluctuating excess momentum

Transmission Loss or Radiation

Consider a panel subjected to an acoustic disturbance on one side.  The resulting
sound heard on the other side may be described in terms of sound transmission
loss.
However, consider the same panel excited by mechanical vibrations. The noise
generated can be described as radiated noise.
